Disrupted traffic, crowded trains, delays: criticism is multiplying against the Ile-de-France transport network. The former Prime Minister, new CEO of the Ile-de-France region, promises new hires to deal with the situation.
Operating difficulties, forgotten luggage, passenger discomfort… Incidents have become widespread on Ile-de-France transport lines in 2022. According to the Regional Transport Authority, 10 to 20% of the offer has not been carried out last year, when the tariffs were increased.
The climate is tense, and users are angry. In this context, during a press conference, organized on Friday January 13, the CEO of RATP, Jean Castex, promised an improvement in service.
One in five buses stays at the depot every day
“We plan to recruit 4,500 people, including 2,500 bus drivers, and 400 metro drivers. That is to say, we are going to be on a train that will be almost double that of 2022”, declared the former Prime Minister.
One in five buses remains at the depot each day, for lack of drivers, and seven metro lines are regularly delayed. In addition, modernization work drags on. The RATP criticizes Île-de-France Mobilités in particular for having underestimated the post-Covid return of Ile-de-France residents to transport.
The difficulty of the professions is at the heart of the battle around the pension reform. The government prefers to speak of “professional wear and tear” and does not want, he says, to recreate special regimes. The unions, unanimously, are opposed to this change.

The points are then used to train, to work part-time. Or from retirement two years earlier. But in 2017, whammy, Emmanuel Macron reshuffles the account and removes heavy loads, painful postures and mechanical vibrations. The professional branches will be obliged to identify the professions exposed to these three ergonomic factors.
The workers concerned will benefit from reinforced medical monitoring from the age of 45, with the Occupational doctor. If they wish, they will have access to real retraining leave, with maintenance of the salary throughout the duration of the training. This is the great novelty.
But if the employee continues his activity, what happens?
He will have to pass a last medical examination at the age of 61, compulsory, this time, with the social security medical adviser. It is he who will judge his state of health. If he can keep working. Or if he can benefit from an early departure for incapacity or disability. At 62, two under the legal age. And at full rate, even if the person doesn’t have all their quarters.
Reinforced medical monitoring is supposed to guide more employees towards these early departure schemes, which are not always known. The government will finally relax the criteria for accessing retirement for permanent disability, from the age of 62. Not enough for the unions.
