Roku TV is a type of television that uses the Roku platform to stream content. The Roku platform is a streaming software that provides users with access to over-the-top content, including free and paid channels. A Roku TV can be either a standalone television set or built into a Roku player.

The benefits of using a Roku TV are many. The most prominent benefit is that it allows users to watch their favorite shows and movies without worrying about cable bills or contracts. In addition, Roku TVs come with various characteristics that make them more user-friendly than traditional TVs. For example, some Roku TVs come with voice control capabilities, which allow users to search for content simply by speaking into the remote control.

How to fix the TCL Roku TV remote not working?

Is the Roku remote not working? If your TCL Roku TV remote is not working, it can be due to dead batteries, obstructions, blocked sensors, or unpaired settings. Often, the problem will only become apparent with an appropriate repair.

Method 1: Check your Roku battery

A dead or discharged battery may cause the remote control to malfunction. First, remove the batteries and then reinsert the individual batteries. If the remote control does not respond, replace the batteries and try again.

Method 2: Check for blocked IR (infrared) signals

IR remote control requires a direct signal without obstructions. The remote will not work if an object, wall, or other obstruction blocks the line of sight between the Roku TV and remote.

Method 3: Re-pair the Roku controller

Another common reason why the Roku remote doesn’t work is that the remote isn’t paired with the box it’s supposed to work with. If you want to repair your Roku controller, here is the guide.

Step 1: Unplug the Roku box.

Step 2: Wait for 10 seconds, reconnect the box, and wait for it to load.

Step 3: Find the pairing button on the remote control.

Step 4: Press and hold the button for 5 seconds until you see the Roku remote flashing.

Method 4: Reset your Roku controller

You can reset your Roku remote by performing a particular sequence while booting up the box or joystick. Remove the batteries from the remote and disconnect the power cord from the Roku streaming device. Wait 5 seconds and then reconnect power to the device. When the Roku logo appears on home screen, reinsert the batteries into the remote. Wait for 30 seconds to see if the remote reconnects to the Roku device.

Method 5: Check for HDMI interference

Some remote control models are affected by interference from nearby HDMI cables. To solve this, you need to connect the streaming dongle to the HDMI extender cable, not the port on the TV. Extenders help reduce distractions by allowing you to place Roku sticks further away from your TV.

Note: Moving your Roku to a different HDMI port may mean resetting your Roku. However, it can remove a faulty HDMI port from the list.

Method 6: Check the Wi-Fi connection status

Depending on what you have, a Roku player or streaming dongle, your Roku device should have at least one network connection. On Roku players, most have wired and wireless options. The streaming dongle only has a Wi-Fi connection.

Method 7: Download and install the Roku app

If you can’t use the remote, download the Roku Remote app from App Store or Play Store. It has all the features of a Roku remote, plus easier text searches.

If none of the above solves your TCL Roku controller not working problem, you may have no other option, but it’s time for you to replace your TCL Roku TV controller. Fortunately, it only costs a little to replace the remote. Also you can also visit Roku TV remote not working.
