Charli collaborated with Dunkin Donuts on a custom drink called “The Charlie” and a menu option called “Charli Cold Foam.” The company saw a significant increase in revenue generated by teenagers shortly after her Invialign endorsement went live.

She and her sister have a podcast, an animated show, a documentary series on Hulu, and a Snap series.

Early Life

Charli D’Amelio was born in Norwalk, Connecticut in 2004 to Heidi, a former model and photographer, and Marc, a former Republican candidate for the Connecticut State Senate. Dixie, her older sister, is her only sibling. D’Amelio began dancing at the age of three and competed for more than 10 years. D’Amelio went to King School for her studies, but following her breakthrough on TikTok, she switched to virtual schools.

Start of TikTok Fame

D’Amelio began posting on TikTok in May 2019 with a lip-syncing video she shot with a buddy. A few months later, she received attention for a duet video she created with a user entitled Move With Joy. Her biggest break came in October, when she performed the Renegade dance to the K Camp song “Lottery.” D’Amelio was credited with popularizing the dance as well as erroneously claiming to have invented it. Following that, in November, she and her sister joined The Hype House, a Los Angeles-based group of teen TikTok personalities.

D’Amelio rose to prominence after Sony Music executive Barbara Jones signed her to her management company, Outshine Talent, in late 2019. D’Amelio then signed with United Talent Agency in early 2020. She later appeared in a Super Bowl commercial for Sabra Hummus and was asked to create a TikTok dance challenge inspired by Jennifer Lopez’s halftime show performance.

Height of TikTok Stardom

D’Amelio surpassed Loren Gray as the most followed TikTok user in March 2020. She was also the first creator on the platform to reach 50 million followers. D’Amelio became the first TikTok user to reach 100 million followers in November. She was also named to both Forbes’ 30 Under 30 and Fortune’s 40 Under 40 lists, where she was the youngest person on the latter.
