Elimination of Cockroaches From Your Residence
A cockroach infestation is one of the most common pest problems in homes and apartments. They are attracted and found in those areas where food is prepared and sanitation is lacking. Their presence is repulsive and offensive to most people. These pests can contaminate food, kitchen, wood, and other items on your property, and they leave an unpleasant smell behind.
These bugs like spiders, wasps, flies, mosquitos and especially cockroaches move freely to contaminate food, because they are attracted towards food items. These pests spread pathogenic microbes that cause fever, food poisoning, and other diseases. Allergens produced by bugs and pests, especially cockroaches, may trigger sneezing and watery eyes, as well as life-threatening bronchial inflammation (asthma) and difficulty breathing. Children living in densely populated housing conditions with severe infestations often suffer from asthma, a disease caused by cockroaches.
Types of Cockroaches
There are 4000+ species of cockroaches find all over the world, few of some them are briefed, which are mostly found and can cause danger for human health.
1- Oriental Cockroach (Blatta orientalis)
The mature oriental cockroach is about an inch long and lustrous black or dark brown. The males’ wings cover roughly half of their abdomen, whilst the females’ are quite short. Sewers, crawlspaces, cellars, and basements are common habitats for this cockroach, which prefers chilly, dark, wet environments. The nymphs and adults are often found at ground level and move very slowly. They frequently reside in floor drains and sump pumps. They also reside outside beneath rocks, trash, and plant matter and enter buildings through vents, door thresholds, and other holes. Oriental cockroaches are extremely nasty because they frequently eat trash, animal and human waste, and decomposing organic substances.
2- German Cockroach (Blattella germanica)
The cockroach that infests homes and other structures the most frequently is this one. The pest does not exist outdoors but flourishes when people are around. Adults are light brown in color and are half an inch long. Two black stripes run lengthwise along the region that resembles a shield behind the head. The nymphs have a tan stripe running down the middle of their backs and are smaller and darker. German cockroaches breed quickly, which is one of the reasons why getting rid of these pests can be challenging. In less than a year, a single fertile female may give birth to thousands of baby cockroaches.
3- American Cockroach (Periplaneta americana)
With a length of almost 1 1/2 inches when fully grown, this cockroach is the biggest one often found inside homes. Its color ranges from reddish brown to brown, with a thin band of yellow encircling the back of the skull. Adults rarely fly, despite having well-developed wings. The nymphs look similar, albeit being smaller and without wings. German and American cockroaches both reproduce at a slower rate.
4- Brown banded Cockroach (Supella longipalpa)
This species is significantly less frequent than the German cockroach, yet it can occasionally be a nuisance in the house. Correct identification is critical since it has distinct hiding spots and behaviors. The brown banded cockroach is about the same size as the German cockroach, but it lacks the dark longitudinal bands below the head. Instead, the wings have a black bell-shaped pattern behind the head and two transverse yellowish bands.
5- Wood Cockroaches (Parcoblatta species)
Although these cockroaches prefer to stay outside, they can be found in buildings, particularly in forested areas. The mature are around 1 inch long and brownish in color at all stages. The outer wing border of adults in certain species is edged with white. Male wood cockroaches, unlike the other cockroaches described, are good flyers, and they are drawn to lights.
These are generally outdoor cockroaches that inhabit woodpiles, logs that have fallen, and dead trees. Although they cannot live inside, they can be a nuisance in the spring and summer when a lot of them walk inside from the outdoors. In the winter, firewood is often used to transport them into dwellings. Sometimes, crawl areas and gutters are where you might find large numbers of wood cockroaches building their nests.
