1. Identify your keywords

Identifying your keywords is the main step, and yet far too underestimated by websites. Indeed, choosing a keyword means installing gateways to your site. To do this, you need to find keywords corresponding to your niche that have a few characteristics:

  • The type of keyword (short or long tail)
  • The search volume
  • Le CPC

Even if the CPC is not useful at first glance for SEO, it is in fact an indicator of competition in SEA (Google Ads). If the CPC is high, many sites are already looking to position themselves on it.

To get this list of keywords, you can use SEO software such as:

  • SEMrush
  • Aref
  • Uber suggests
  • Cranking
  • etc.

Then choose the keywords that seem most relevant to you and your business, ideally looking for a keyword with high search volume and little competition.

There are also free tools for keyword research.

2. Respond to search intent

There are roughly 3 search intents:

  • Commercial
  • Informational
  • Navigational

These three types of research should not be mixed to be able to give the perfect answer to a user. If a prospect is looking for “silver earrings”, there is a very good chance that the latter is looking to buy silver earrings, a commercial search.

If he is looking for “how to measure a table”, he will neither try to buy a measuring tape nor a table (at first) but rather look for an answer to his question, an informational search.

Finally, if he searches for “blog on cats”, he is looking to join a specific site, neither to buy nor to get information, just to surf the web, so it is a navigational search.

Your page must absolutely respond to one of these requests to be able to position itself in the best positions. Ask yourself clearly what the Internet user wants by searching for this keyword and analyze the SERP to see what results are already there.

3. Cover the entire topic

As we have seen, an Internet user seeks an answer to a search. Your role as a website on the first page is to respond to this request. Therefore, you must be the most complete and meticulous in your answers. Do not hesitate to consult our article on how to write an article optimized for SEO.

A small example, the search is “best restaurants in Paris”, the user wants a list of the best restaurants in Paris. He comes across 2 sites, one will simply make a list of 10 good restaurants with their addresses, the other will name the same 10 restaurants, but adding menus, prices, customer reviews, etc.

Which of these sites do you prefer to visit?

Naturally, the second which offers much more information on the subject. When you create a page, you must ensure that you answer all user questions.

If your pages do not arrive in first position on the targeted keywords, it is because other sites must be more complete. Do not hesitate to study their pages, look at the subtitles, the topics covered, etc.

4. Update your pages

Google loves novelty! This is why it is imperative to regularly update your pages when information changes over the years, if your text is no longer up to date (new words), if new solutions appear, etc.

Of course, these updates cannot apply to all pages of a site. It is mainly blogging posts that will be targeted here. Trends, research, and intentions change over time, so always try to keep up with the times.

5. Build your pages well

This is the somewhat technical part of SEO for Events, the structure of the web page. You may have a great domain authority, rich content and answer a direct question, if your page is not well built, you will have no results and will not appear in that of prospects.

The structure of a page goes through a few very distinct points:

Hen Tags

Hen beacons are numbered from 1 to 6 and are designated by their “priority” level. An H1 will be much more impactful than an H2, which itself is more impactful than an H3, and so on until H6.

All your pages must contain at least an H1 and an H2 with your uniquely dedicated keyword. You must also ensure that you respect the hierarchy of tags. Do not go from an H1 to an H4, nor from an H4 to an H2. Prefer logical sequences, H1-H2-H3-H2-H3-H4, etc.

The H1 must be unique to each page!

URL

The URL (the address of your page) must be understandable and as simple as possible so that the Google robot and the user can understand what the page is about at a glance.

Enter your keyword without special characters (à, ç, ù, ê, etc.) or punctuation marks other than the dash of 6 (-) to indicate separations in place of spaces.

It must be unique to each page!

Title Tag

The title tag is the most important, and often the most underrated. It is she who will appear in the search engine and who will give, or not, want to click on your link. This is also the text displayed in the page tab.

This tag must include your targeted keyword in its beginning. The title must not exceed 70 characters under penalty of seeing it displayed only partially in the SERP.

It is also the tag that gives the most weight in terms of on-page SEO, more than the H1 title, know that!

It must be unique on each page!

Meta description

The meta-description is paradoxically useful for SEO. In reality, it has no, or very little, impact on the latter directly. However, this description appears in the SERP under the blue link. It is therefore this short text that makes you want to click or not.

Your meta-description must then clearly and simply summarize the content of your page, in the same way as the title tag. In 160 characters, you must succeed in making people want to visit your page. Do not hesitate to place your keyword there once again.

It must be unique to a page!

Image

Your images must include an alt tag. This tag is used to give the robot information about the image that is displayed. This is very valuable information that also helps to place your keyword.

Each alt tag must be unique to an image!

6. Add internal links

Google loves discovering content, links are the easiest way to do that. By following a link, Google discovers new pages every day. This is why it is important that all your pages have an inbound link. It is therefore important to work on the internal mesh for efficient SEO.

The best way to do this is to add it to your content. However, it must be done intelligently. Always try to link to larger, more impactful articles from your site via your links, but always consistently.

Do not go from cock to donkey as they say, if you talk about shoes, add a link from your site which talks about the same subject, or even socks which are close to the subject. Do not send a link to a part of your site that talks about makeup, it will lose the reader and the robot.

7. Create Unique Pages

Check that your content is unique on your site! It is imperative to avoid duplicate content between two sites, but especially on the same one. This creates a disturbance in the logic of the robot.

If two contents are identical, which should be highlighted? It is on this logic that Google reflects and therefore will naturally look for a unique answer elsewhere. Then make sure you only have unique texts, not copied and pasted.

If you ever have several identical pages like:

votresite.fr
www.votresite.fr

Do a 301 redirect from one of them to the other.

8. Add backlinks

One of the three pillars of SEO is popularity. The latter is mainly obtained by external links that redirect to your site, more commonly called backlinks. If a site talks about your site and links to you, Google considers you important.

This is why the search for backlinks is very widespread and requested. However, not all external links are created equal. Indeed, a good backlink must respect a few rules:

  • It must come from a site with good domain authority
  • It must come from a site in the same theme as you
  • It must come from a page where there are few other backlinks
  • It must be in a page body (content) and not in the header or the footer
  • It must be in do follow (if it has a no follow, Google will not take it into account)
  • It must have an optimized anchor in a majority of cases

You can search sites to ask them for inbound links. Do not hesitate to analyze the backlinks of your competitors in order to know where it is possible for you to make requests. To perform this analysis, use appropriate tools such as:

  • Aref’s backlinks
  • SEMrush
  • Subterfuges

The more quality backlinks you have, the more your domain authority will increase, the more influence you will have on search engines. This will help your pages load faster because people are recommending your content.

9. Analyze your location

In order to know if your efforts are paying off, you need to track your ranking progress on the various search engines. This step allows you to control all of your influence on the SERP.

If you see more and more pages appearing in the best positions, your strategy is working, if not, you should certainly review the points mentioned from the beginning (especially the keywords).

It also gives you the ability to see which pages are stagnating. You can thus rework on these pages by updating them (steps 3 and 4) to try to improve the content.

You can follow these advancements on the software sites mentioned above, but in particular on Google Analytics, which is Google’s own tracking tool.

10. Add content

The last step is to bring your site to life. We have already seen that Google loves novelty. However, only updating content will not give you more possibilities to enter, because remember that a page corresponds to a request, therefore to a keyword. The more keywords you have, the more likely users are to find your site.

It is therefore of paramount importance to post content regularly to show Google that you are still present and active PPC Marketing for Insurance Agents. Repeat all the steps seen previously for the creation of your new pages.
