Moving to a new home is exciting – you’ll get a fresh start, new opportunities and a chance to make your new place your dream. That doesn’t mean you can’t feel overwhelmed at times.
Start early, make a plan and do everything you can to make it easy for yourself. We have been helping people move their homes for over twenty years, We are the best and professional movers in Dubai, so we thought we’d share top tips with you to make your move stress-free.

Tip 1: Choose a removal company ahead of time

Depending on when you plan to move, you may find it difficult to book an appointment. After all, most people try to travel on weekends, or during school or public holidays, to give themselves extra time. Don’t get stuck – plan ahead.

Choosing a takedown team may seem easier than all your other choices, but choosing professionals is important. Your items will depend on the company you choose, and to avoid damaging items or property or paying more than you expected, it’s important to do your research.

Look at reviews from previous customers, check what’s included in a removal quote, and ask if the company is happy to carry out an appraisal – meaning someone will come to your home to assess the amount of stuff you have. , and make sure you have the correct truck size and number of team members on the day you move.

Tip 2: Make a list

You may feel like there’s a lot to remember as you prepare for your move — after all, real life goes hand in hand with your moving plans. To delay stress, make a list of everything you need, and think about your schedule. You may have just accepted your offer and be months away from completion. But that doesn’t mean you have to wait for a week before you start preparing.

Take a look at our home moving checklist to see if you’ve forgotten to add to your list. You can also sign up for email reminders so you’re prompted on time and don’t forget anything.

Tip 3: Declutter in advance

Clearing your home of any unwanted or unnecessary items before you move can save you time and stress, but it can also save you money! By donating, recycling, or getting rid of things you don’t need, you reduce the amount of things you need to move. The fewer things you have, the smaller the truck, and the less removal team you need.

An easy way to save money while moving is to avoid paying to move things you won’t get rid of until you get to your new home! Take a look at our guide to decluttering before you move.

Tip 4: Make a packing plan

Getting active always takes longer than you think, so it’s best to start as soon as possible. When you’ve cleared out everything you no longer need, the best place to start is to use as few rooms as possible. Filling up these rooms and using them for storage will make your life less cluttered, and you’ll get more done.

When you label boxes, it’s easy to summarize the contents at the top, such as “Kitchen,” but that can’t help you when you need to prioritize unpacking!
Label the box with the room you plan to move it to in your new home, and bullet mark some of the items in there so you know what’s in it. You will thank us when you don’t have to open fifteen boxes marked “Kitchen” to find the one containing the dishes!

Try not to overload your boxes! It’s tempting to overstuff but try to use smaller boxes for heavier items and larger boxes for lighter items. Otherwise, you run the risk of the box falling, damaging the carriers and possibly damaging your items.

Tip Five: Think about what you can’t move

There are some things removal teams won’t move. These include hazardous materials, soiled plants, and things like paint or chemical cans. Paint pots can often be donated to charity, so don’t feel like everything will go to waste. If you can’t bear to leave your plants behind, you may want to remove most of the soil, wrap the potted plant in plastic so it doesn’t move, and take it to your car.

Don’t forget the safety of your movers and packers and yourself – not just with the weight of the boxes, but with the items you’re moving. If you are packing garden equipment, make sure it is packed cleanly and securely. Large gardening equipment such as lawn mowers or gasoline-powered tools should be emptied and cleaned before moving. If you are packing your knives, wrap them carefully.

If you are not sure what to take, ask your removal team – they will be able to tell you how to pack certain things and if there’s anything they can’t move. They may also offer an additional service where they can pack more difficult items for you.
