Probably, the first question that pops into our mind after looking at the title is, Does Metamask support Cardano Network?
Evidently, as Cardano is incompatible with EVM, you cannot directly add your ADA tokens to the Web3.0 metamask wallet.
Although, if you want to utilize the Ouroboros network on Cardano, you need to install an open-source wallet for Ada, namely Daedalus, yoroi, etc.
Moreover, adding the Cardano network to Metamask requires you to take a separate route through Binance chain smart.
This blog will take you through a step-by-step methodology to add ada to your metamask wallet. But before that, let’s briefly discuss Cardano and metamask.
Let’s Begin!
What is Cardano?

Cardano is a decentralized platform that runs on the proof-of-stake Ouroboros consensus protocol. It seeks to develop into a primary DApp building platform, ensuring scalability, interoperability, energy efficiency, and transparency.
ADA is the primary cryptocurrency of the Cardano blockchain.
Cardano is EVM-incompatible and is built using Haskell programming language.
What is Metamask?
Metamask is a popular crypto wallet that supports over 450,000 EVM-compatible cryptocurrencies of Ethereum, polygon, binance, and more.
The critical feature of metamask is its easier usability and ability to buy, send, and receive cryptocurrencies directly from the wallet and collect non-fungible tokens (NFTs) across two blockchains.
It is available on both mobile and desktop devices.
How to add Cardano to Metamask?
As we have already discussed, it is impossible to add ADA to the metamask directly.
The only way to do so is via the Binance-pegged-ADA token. You can hold ADA on Metamask using the Binance-pegged-ADA token rather than the native ADA of the Cardano blockchain.
Following is a step-by-step methodology to add Cardano to your metamask wallet.

Step1: Open Your metamask wallet and reach the screen shown below.
Step 2: Click the box(highlighted above) at the top right corner and select add network.
Step 3: The following screen will show up. Here, add the Binance smart chain credentials
.
Step 4: Add the following credentials for Binance smart chain network.
Network Name: Smart Chain
New RPC URL: https://bsc-dataseed.binance.org/
ChainID: 56
Symbol: BNB
Block Explorer URL: https://bscscan.com
Step 5: Upon adding the network, the following screen appears.
Step 6: Select import tokens
Step 7: Get ADA’s address from the coinmarketcap ADA page and copy the required address.
Step 8: Click on Add Custom Token and then select import token.
Step 9: DONE!, your Binance-pegged-ADA has been added to your metamask.
Mapping Up
Developed by Charles Hoskinson, an Ethereum co-founder, in 2015, Cardano commenced its journey in the crypto market in 2017.
Cardano asserts itself as an Ethereum substitute where both platforms aim to create a connected, decentralized network and seeks to deploy applications via smart contracts. Cardano has the eighth-largest market value as of July 2022, with $15.7 billion, with an ADA trading for about $0.47.
Hopefully, the ease of accessing ADA via metamask will further enhance its user base.
