Everything You Need to Know About PVC Strip Fences

by Nathan Zachary

If you’re looking to install a fence around your home, there are two main options available to you. The first is wood, which comes in many varieties, from cedar and redwood to pressure treated pine, and you can paint it or stain it any color you like. The second option is PVC strip fencing, which comes in both green and white colors. The PVC material is the newer of the two options and has several advantages over wood, but there are disadvantages as well that should be considered before making the purchase.

Introduction

What is a PVC strip fence? PVC (Polyvinyl chloride) is one of several plastics used to manufacture everything from clothes and carpets, through to computer cases and toys. Plastics are also used extensively in construction projects – pipes, guttering, door frames, windows and much more. So it’s not surprising that they’re used when constructing fences too. They can be made into wide strips or small panels with a variety of finishes available such as UV resistant coatings or colored tinting. Let’s take a look at how they work and what factors you should consider before buying them…

Types of Vinyl Fencing

If you’re looking into building a fence, vinyl might be an attractive option. It can be customized to virtually any shape or style, and comes in many different colors and textures. While it is incredibly durable, it doesn’t cost as much as iron or aluminum fencing. To find out more about what options are available for PVC strip fences, including fiberglass varieties, read on! We’ll also discuss some of its advantages over other types of fencing. Advantages: Vinyl fences come with a variety of benefits that make them well worth considering if you’re planning on constructing a new barrier around your home or property. They are durable, weather-resistant and low maintenance; they won’t rust, rot or corrode easily, and will last years without requiring any repairs.

Materials Used in Manufacturing Vinyl Fences

The composition of your vinyl fence will vary depending on where you live, but there are a few key ingredients that can help you decide if an option is right for you. Here’s a look at some common materials used to create fences and what they do: Vinyl: As its name implies, vinyl is a plastic material made from either polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or polyvinylidene chloride (PVDF). Vinyl has been growing in popularity for residential use in recent years. Its low cost and durability make it an attractive option for homeowners who want a high-quality fence without paying extra money. Because PVC is less expensive than PVDF, it’s most commonly used in residential fencing.

Installation Process

A Few Steps to follow:

1. Dig holes for your fence posts.

2. Insert wooden or steel fence posts, depending on what type you’re installing.

3. Place a concrete block in each hole and fill it with concrete, as directed by your local building department (make sure to follow all city and state guidelines).

4. Once your fence post is secure and stable, attach boards by screwing them into place using a drill/driver or hammering them into place using galvanized nails.

5. If you’re using an electric-powered driver, make sure that your work area is well-ventilated because of fumes from drilling. If you’re not working near an outlet, make sure to bring along a portable generator.

6. Repeat steps 2–5 for each section of fencing that you plan on creating.

7. After everything has been installed, paint or stain your fence however you like!

Make sure to wait at least 24 hours before letting pets outside so they don’t get any accidental paint splatters on their fur.
