Today we’ll discover this wonderful story of love between injuries and electric skateboard. Skateboarding falls under the category of extreme sports. Who says that extreme sports always imply risk-taking commitment, falls, and even injury… Take note that this isn’t medical advice and is more about the facts about skateboarding that I will share with you from my personal experience.
The feet:
The most commonly reported accident for skaters is an ankle injury that is sprained. Although it’s a minor ailment that is very common, each sprain can weaken the ligaments just a bit. Based on my personal experience, after 10 years of skating, I do not consider these any longer… I’ll only say that there are a variety of kinds of sprains, ranging from starting with the simple stretching of the ligament, to rupture completely of the ligament.
Here are some suggestions for sprains, injuries, and similar ones.
Knee:
The cruciate and knee ligaments are one of the most feared afflictions of the athlete. A sprain can occur to novices as well as older athletes … the knee area is supported by a variety of ligaments (internal and external collateral ligaments as well as the anterior and posterior ligaments). After a mistake, there are several types of sprains, ranging from the least severe to the tear of the ligament. This injury is being managed well, but the time to heal from this injury can be quite lengthy. It’s about six months without any activity before beginning rehabilitation. An anecdote is that after having a bowling session and sitting on my knees I suffered an injury to my knee that was stage 2 and I believe I’ve slowly resumed my sport over the last two to three months. A brace is highly advised.
The sciatic nerve
Perhaps you’ve felt this type of pain but didn’t know the cause. The sciatic nerve extends from the lower back and into the feet. It is therefore simple to comprehend that when one of the areas along the route of the nerve is affected, pain or discomfort may be felt at a different part of the nerve. For instance, if you fall on the buttocks behind the thigh, severe pain can be felt that can lead to the sensation of tingling elsewhere on the leg.
Here’s an exercise I would recommend to relieve sciatic nerve pain (this method works for me). Go up the stairs, lift your leg in the air and then move it back and forth, parallel with the steps. This will ease the discomfort and release the nerve that is compressed.
Adductors:
A huge gap, broken board, and split… You will likely experience problems with your adductors for a couple of days and then you’ll have to add a brand new deck for your skate shop. If you push extremely intensely without warming up, you won’t be feeling anything that day, but on the following day, you may experience this discomfort. The inside of the thigh isn’t likely to hurt during rest, however, the discomfort can be felt when you pull the thigh outwards. To soothe it you can apply cold on it, massage it as well as rest and a slow recuperation. From a few days up to some weeks for healing.
