Newsletters are periodic publications that target specific audiences with relevant content.
Its primary objective is to convey an idea or notion through engaging and visually appealing prose.
According to this definition, a newsletter is essentially a publication that shares news and information. Two distinct groups branch off from this central one:
First, traditional newsletters made with paper and ink.
Second, electronic newsletters distributed through the Internet.
You have to admit, this is pretty cool, right? However, for the sake of simplicity, I will focus on traditional print newsletters and save the online publications for later in the course.
Both use equivalent concepts and methods.
Creating newsletters on paper and ink costs just a little more than doing so digitally. (Including the price of the letter’s postage, envelope, and paper.) In a minute, I will begin discussing the foundational principles around which a successful newsletter is built. Indeed, that’s what you’ve been anticipating all along. I have one point I need to make before I continue. In a nutshell, this is it…
Your Newsletter May Be Written and Laid Out In Any Way You See Fit.
I won’t be giving you any orders in this situation.
Writing a newsletter can be approached in whatever way you like; there are no set guidelines. What I will show you are techniques used by all the best newsletters. I’ll give you some rules of thumb to follow while creating your newsletter’s content and layout.
Once you’ve mastered these rules,
You’re free to let go and embrace your inner we-hey. My suggestion is that you take everything in, let it sit for a time, and then let your mind go wild with what you come up with. Never doubt your inner instincts.
Keep this in mind because the success of your newsletter depends on it being distinct from others.

- “What You Need to Begin Doing Today!“
I’m presuming that you’re here because you want to learn how to publish and promote a newsletter since you’re taking this class. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but before we move any further, I need to double-check that this is actually what you want.
Taking the time to plan out your future accomplishments is essential. You’ll still need to put in some work to achieve your goals but doing so will be easier after you’ve written them down.
When you decide on a course of action,
It’s like placing a magnet in front of yourself. You’ll be attracted to this ‘magnet’ as if by magic. The value of making and working toward plans is, quite simply, crucial. Do not discount the effectiveness of this method.
What you do is basically just make a list of all the things you want to accomplish by a given date. Then, you’ll make it a habit to read these aloud to yourself on a regular basis. If you are intent on penning a newsletter, I provide the following two objectives:
Three issues of my newsletter for (X months from now) will be written from start to end (Your idea).
In two years from now,
On December 30, I will have accumulated assets greater than (Any amount of money which you believe you are worth)
First, you want to motivate yourself to create the best newsletter you can think of. If you follow this plan and set a firm deadline for yourself, I have no doubt that you will succeed in accomplishing your goal on time. I urge you to do this because I care about your happiness and prosperity.
The second objective is what will drive you to start planning how to make that first investment back. Don’t be stingy with the cash but know that you deserve it.
Consider this activity one of your tasks.
Do like Daniel’s son did in Karate Kid and just do it without questioning the whys and wherefores. You’ll be really happy you made the effort.
I can’t suggest Stuart Goldsmith’s The Midas Method enough if you want to learn more about goal setting. (ISBN 1 871379 008) Take the advice in this book and see your life improve as a result.
