Features and meanings of tattoo in the style of microrealism

by Nathan Zachary

Characteristics of technology

Realistic tattoos began to appear along with the development of a new specialized technique that made it possible to create more accurate images. And that happened at the end of the 19th century. The first, as usual, tried a tattoo in the style of “realism” of sailors and soldiers. They preferred to leave pictures of their relatives on their bodies so that they would always be nearby.

With the popularization of tattoos and technological advances, other variations of paintings in the style of “realism” and “microrealism” began to appear. They are made in color or black and white. Although it would be more accurate to say – monochrome, since shadows, volumes and other smallest details are very accurately conveyed in tattoos.

There is practically no division of sketches into male and female. Unless flowers and photos of pets are more typical for girls, and fantastic pictures with skulls and intricate images of idols are more typical for men. One way or another, when choosing a tattoo, you should pay attention to its meaning, which says more about yourself than the image itself.

Animal tattoo

Animal tattoos are now considered the most popular. Most often, the choice is in favor of:

  1. foxes. They symbolize cunning, dexterity and disobedience. Black and white fox or colored animals are usually the choice of young girls.
  2. Snakes, which are considered the embodiment of wisdom and readiness to defend themselves. They are preferred by both girls and older ladies. The tattoo also symbolizes cardinal changes in life.
  3. Volkov. More often than not, it’s the men’s choice. The wolf symbolizes devotion and fidelity, emphasizes masculinity and willingness to defend one’s opinion.
  4. Kittens, which are considered the embodiment of grace and love of freedom. Independent girls will appreciate them.
  5. Dogs belonging to universal tattoos: performed for both women and men. The dog symbolizes devotion, sincerity and openness, emphasizes the purposefulness of the wearer.
  6. In addition to symbolic images, tattoos also use drawings of former or real pets. Therefore, a beloved animal always stays with its owner or mistress.

miniature portraits

As before, people continue to decorate their bodies with portraits of relatives and friends, as well as celebrities or heroes of paintings. Micro portraits are often stylized as framed or Polaroid-style pictures. These tattoos adorn the arms, ankles and neck. In the case of portraits, the choice of location should be taken more than carefully so that the face is not distorted or deformed over time or movement.

  • In addition to the faces of close people, images of film heroes, historical figures and other idols are used in tattoos.

Realistic stories

Plot tattoos are considered no less complex and beautiful, in which characters from myths, legends, fairy tales, comics, books appear. They are made both in microvariations and in large sizes. The tattoo in this case repeats not only one hero, but also the whole plot.

Floral ornament

Flowers, of course, are more often preferred by women. However, men’s tattoos also often contain their own images with symbolic meaning. The most common flower tattoos include:

  1. Roses. The flower is a symbol of love, as well as beauty and tenderness. In microrealism, images of rose buds are more often used, but there are also images of a flower with a stem, thorns and additional elements. The rose is also the embodiment of invincibility and “prickly” character.
  2. Lilies. Lily flowers are an undeniable sign of tenderness. However, its meaning should be considered based on the color of the bud:
    1. white – innocence;
    1. yellow – invincibility;
    1. dark – passion.
  3. Sakura. The flower remains the choice of lovers of Japanese culture. It symbolizes the transience of life. The image on the body of young girls emphasizes their tenderness and fragility.
  4. Poppy. The flower is a sign of peace or remembrance of the departed.
  5. Narcissus. Despite the fact that the plant is associated with narcissism, it also symbolizes spring lightness, happiness and rebirth.
  6. Peony. This is another representative of the symbol of the East. It signifies wealth and success, is considered the epitome of beauty, and among adherents of Western culture it is associated with a rose without thorns.

Flowers can also be a separate element of the tattoo or be part of the image of the plot. In this variant, the meanings of the tattoo can also be changed.
